The People's Center
The People's Center exists to provide public education on aspects of traditional lifestyles and histories of the Salish, Kootenai, and Pend d'Oreille people as sanctioned by tribal Elders and the Culture Committees.

The Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes
The Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes are comprised of the Bitterroot Salish, the Pend d’Oreille and the Kootenai tribes. The Flathead Reservation of 1.317 million acres in northwest Montana is our home now but our ancestors lived in the territory now known as western Montana, parts of Idaho, British Columbia and Wyoming. This aboriginal territory exceeded 20 million acres at the time of the 1855 Hellgate Treaty.

Flathead Reservation
The Montana Heritage Project is Montana's premier community history program. This Montana Historical Society program was started in cooperation with the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress. Its work creating digital archives of local community history served as the inspiration for the Flathead Digitization Project.
